Memorial Day Weekend Shopping

Greetings from Fairfield, Connecticut and home of the Greatest Coffee Shop in the World where I am spending a beautiful Memorial Day weekend with my husband’s family. I put together a few things that I bought recently or am thinking of buying to take me through the summer. I have two big trips and a couple of small ones planned – look forward to telling you all about them – but in the meantime I need things to wear!

I have been resisting the ballet flats I am seeing everywhere because I can’t decide if I will actually wear them or not but I took the plunge and purchased a few pairs to try. I think they will look great with cropped jeans, shorts and dresses for the summer, especially these pearl ballet flats which are a bargain at $125. I am excited about this Clare V. Grande Fanny bag (less excited about the name) that will be so great to take to the airport – it will hold your passport, ID, phone, boarding pass (yes I still insist on the paper one), lip gloss and other essentials – rather than fumbling around in my purse like a crazy person like I normally do when I travel. I also bought the longer strap so it is more like a crossbody.
This is the bag to buy if you only want to carry your luggage on and not have to check. There’s a little compartment in the bottom where you can store your shoes so they don’t take up so much room in your suitcase. It’s heavy but better than waiting around for your bags or in long lines. I like this one because it reminds me of the amazing Mezzatorre Hotel.

Good shorts are hard to find. I own both of these – cargo shorts and denim shorts and can attest that they fit well, are comfortable and work with a lot of different tops. The hunter green ones are from Veronica Beard and the white denim ones are from Nili Lotan (note these run large also so size down).
I swear I buy a different pink dress every summer. This is the one for the Summer of 2024: Splendid Pink Dress and only $198.
I just bought these Veronica Beard Wide Legged Pants and have already worn them twice. They are a great alternative to pants at work. You can tuck something in like a button down or wear a light sweater. I would recommend sizing down because they run a little large.
I love this lightweight cashmere cardigan from Veronica Beard. It would go great with the pants above.
I bought the tan colored pair of these on the left because they have a little height. Have my eye on these green crochet ballet flats.
These Gucci sandals are the best beach shoes – they are rubber and are perfect with swimsuits and coverups.
