In addition to Lady Kitty Spencer’s incredible four day wedding that took place outside of Rome in July, there were several other glamorous but slightly less publicized “high society” weddings in Europe this summer. I’ve come to love the Instagram account and online access for Tatler Magazine, mainly for the coverage of all the fun and entertaining happenings (including weddings) in London and elsewhere in Europe.
First up, Lady Jemima Herbert married Hugo Davies last month at Wilton House, the sprawling estate in Wiltshire, England that has been in her family for more than 450 years. Lady Jemima and her sister Lady Alice grew up on this estate; their father was the late 17th Earl of Pembroke, a title that now belongs to their brother, and their mother is Miranda, Countess of Pembroke.
Wilton House has been the setting for many filming locations including Sense and Sensibility, Bridgerton, and The Crown. The sisters both live in London and recently started a company called “Lay London”, which is a “table-laying service offering elegant ready-to-rent dinnerware and decorations”. Check out their instagram account here.
According to Tatler, Jemima “changed for the second phase of the party which took place in the woods – letting her hair flow loose and wearing an elegant, flamenco-inspired white silk dress. Tee-pees were constructed, with lights strung up for a full festival ambiance.” (Love all of that.)
Another wedding that took place just last weekend, was that of Princess Maria Anunciata of Liechtenstein and Emanuele Musini who tied the knot in Vienna, one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. She too, wore a family tiara: the “historic Habsburg Fringe tiara.” that dates back to the 1870s, and apparently, wedding bells “rang through the streets of Vienna” after the ceremony.
I for one love a royal wedding. Who else can wear a 150 year old tiara and host a reception in their family palace but a Princess or a Lady? XX
