A Jude Law Sighting and Other Christmas Miracles

Our big sighting – see the cute guy in gray right behind us.

Imagine visiting London during the holiday season and hoping for a solid celebrity sighting on your trip. And then imagine that on your very first night, sipping your very first cocktail, the one and only Jude Law sits down at the table right beside you in the very small bar at your hotel, Claridge’s.

That’s exactly what happened on my recent trip with my mom and cousin and we are still reminiscing about it. We tried to play it cool but we are from Alabama and the whole thing was just very exciting. And of course I did mention the cocktails we were drinking and then there was the jet lag so we had to take one photo, right?!? My sleuthing friend figured out that based on his clothing he must have just come from the podcast interview that broke the internet where he revealed that the cottage used in filming The Holiday was just a set piece and not an actual house.

We had the best time on this trip and when I am finished making the magic happen for my family’s holiday I will put together all the places we visited in one post. We went to several new museums, restaurants and shops that I had never been to before in London (River Cafe and Sir John Soane Museum to name a couple – coming soon in a future post). It was all just wonderful and I can’t wait to go back. Next time, I’ve decided that I want to stay in Chelsea and explore that area a bit more. Here’s hoping I get the chance soon but in the meantime here are a few festive images from lovely London.

And btw, if Santa disappoints you this year, head over to my LTK Site where you’ll find lots of fun things to browse and buy.

Would also love for you to follow along on my Instagram Account where I post stories about my travel, my newsletter and other odds and ends.

Happy Holidays to you and yours !

From that now famous podcast interview – “That cottage doesn’t exist,” the actor said on BBC Radio 2’s “The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show” last Friday, eliciting gasps from multiple people who were in the studio for the interview. – quoted in Page Six.
My LTK Site has lots of cute things like this Zadig and Voltaire Cashmere Cardigan.
By the way, if you aren’t watching Black Doves on Netflix – you need to start. Spies, London and Christmas. It’s so good. The music is great too.
Possibly my favorite hotel in the world, Claridge’s.
The Annual Claridge’s Christmas Tree designed by Sir Paul Smith

Claridge’s Christmas Tree 2024
The Claridge’s Christmas Tree 2024 by Sir Paul Smith brings together two illustrious British names to reveal a traditional 20ft Christmas tree sitting in a Signature Striped barrel and decorated with Paul Smith colourful baubles, ribbon and over 100 bespoke birdhouses.
Sir Paul has collaborated with two friends of the house on the decorations, British artist Nik Ramage, who has made a series of mechanical birdhouses, all with a playful Paul Smith twist, with roofs decorated in playing cards, postage stamps and dice. In Paul’s office, a miniature cable cart hovers overhead and Ramage took inspiration from this and engineered a flying bird to frame Claridge’s reception. Design studio Studiomama, have created a series of their whimsical ‘Off Cut Creatures’ to sit around the base of the tree.

The decorations at Claridge’s are beyond.
As is the service and the people that work there.
It’s the scalloped detail on the top of the revolving door for me.
These little holiday vignettes are everywhere in the city.
I almost bought this but I have so many Queen ornaments, it’s a joke. This is a good one though.
These doormen at The Cadogan in their red plaid coats…perfect.
Shopping at the Festive Anya Hindmarch.
Bought Christmas present for myself.
Cheeky cocktails at Daphne’s.
Literally every restaurant and bar is beautifully decorated.
Really leaned in to the Cosmopolitans and bar snacks on this trip.
Chatting it up with the bartender at The Vesper Bar at The Dorchester. The smoke she is using is meant to smell like old library books and wooden furniture for a cocktail called “Turning Pages”. They take their cocktails seriously here and if I hadn’t had two of them at the time of this conversation I could remember more interesting things to tell you about it.
Spent a day in the Cotswolds and stopped off at Daylesford Farm.
Brought a holiday scented candle home with me.
Love a little road trip complete with driver and guide.
Never enough old churches.
This is not a flattering picture of me but I love it so much. Trying to pretend I am a local and chatting it up with this friendly doorman.
La Ligne gifts for my girlfriends.
Let Your Heart Be Light – I love this lyric from one of my favorite Christmas songs, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
