The Most Romantic Hotel in the World: Katikies Hotel, Santorini, Greece

My husband and I went on an amazing trip to Greece and London on our honeymoon ten years ago.

When describing our experience my husband loves to say that we went to Greece for our honeymoon and then I dragged him to a business conference in London.

He could not understand why we left a beautiful island with incredible sunsets, delicious food, and luxurious surroundings to go to a stuffy (his view) British hotel in Mayfair where we dined alongside busy Londoners wearing nametags in breakfast meetings.

I personally loved the mix of beach and city but he did have a point…the hotel where we stayed in Greece, the Katikies, has been described as one of the most romantic hotels in the world.  It is perched atop a hilltop town called Oia that overlooks the sea in Santorini, and is every bit as beautiful as the images on their website.

Highlights of our trip included the hotel itself  (a gorgeous hilltop maze of white stone), sunsets by the infinity pool, a private boat trip where we swam in the sea and had a delicious lunch, walking to and from the small town of Oia and going in and out of shops, and meals of pasta and fresh fish with lots and lots of oregano.

Beautiful OIa evening
