Nice & Rosy & Comfy Cozy Are We: A Holiday Wish List for the Girls

One of my favorite Christmas movies, Christmas in Connecticut, starring Barbara Stanwyck. It’s the best.

This post is a little later than I’d hoped but here are a few things to add to your Christmas list for the people that make the magic happen!

That means you!

Happy Holidays!

E.M. Reitz shirts have whimsical names like this one: A Clear Day, French Blue

E.M. Reitz: I discovered this beautiful, comfortable line of women’s blouses through the fabulous newsletter written by Charleston restauranteur and entrepreneur, Brooks Reitz. His wife, Erin Marie Reitz, designs and produces these really pretty shirts that look great with jeans, under a sweater or with a blazer for the office, with shorts, tucked in/untucked and on and on. I bought one to see if it worked for me and I loved it so much I ended up buying two more. I am not sure what type of fabric she uses but they feel amazing on my skin and I love that I can wear it to the office, to the airport with jeans or on the weekends etc.

“The collection is elevated but approachable, made for women that are confident and cool, not showy. The styles aren’t frilly or overtly feminine, but not boxy or androgynous, either; they are timeless and classic – for a woman who knows how to dress simply and stylishly.”

Coffee Table Books – There are two great new coffee table books out to give to the film and music lovers in your life.

First, the Sofia Coppola Archive book that flew off the shelves that is an “unprecedented look behind the scenes of her storied film career”.

The second is the recently released Rolling Stones Icons: Perfect gift idea — pair this book with  concert tickets since the Stones are set to go on tour in North American next year

“The 488-page tome is a treasure trove for anyone with even a passing interest in the filmmaker’s work, featuring hundreds of never-before-seen photographs shot by Coppola and her collaborators over the years.” Vogue

Shop the CarlyleThe Carlyle on the Upper East Side in New York is one of my most favorite hotels I’ve ever visited. (If you haven’t seen the documentary Always at the Carlyle – it is so much fun to watch; add it to your holiday watching list. Bonus feature: George Clooney is a loyal guest of the hotel and prominently featured). If you love it too – or just love NYC – they now have limited edition artwork for sale by New Yorker and well-known illustrator Chesley McLaren. They also have soap, ornaments, key chains, wrapping paper and other fun things to remind you of your visit to the Carlyle.

Jackie at the Carlyle – portrait of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis – who was a resident in 1963.

Mackage Coats – I left my beloved Mackage Coat in the security line in London (or was it the lounge?? I have retraced my steps so many times but still have no idea where I left it and didn’t realize it until we landed back in Atlanta – sigh). But I promptly order another one, wrapped it and placed it under the tree.

I’ve had this coat for three years and never tire of it – I wore it in London on a recent trip, sightseeing, out to dinner, casual, fancy, etc. It’s the best – not too heavy, it can work for day and night – the fur hoodie gives it a little oomph. P.S. I am still checking the London Heathrow Lost and Found daily in the hopes that someone will turn it in but no luck yet.

Mackage makes beautiful coats – not just the one I have but many other styles. You can get them all HERE.

In my Mackage Coat at the National Portrait Gallery in London (by the way – if you have a trip planned to London, definitely add this to your list of places to visit. It was closed for a number of years and just re-opened last summer. The David Hockney exhibit closes on 1/24 – I loved it). This is a picture taken by my mother-in-law because I spotted the British actor Richard E. Grant and had a total Anglophile fan-girl moment.
More to come on London – it was so great. And no I don’t care that I look ridiculous. I loved every minute.
Behind the scenes tour of The Changing of the Guards!

LL Bean Wicked Good Moccasins – I buy some version of these for my husband every year, but when I came across these, I threw a pair in the cart for myself as well. They are lined entirely with shearling – “wicked good”, comfy & cozy!

Lands End Sheets – Speaking of comfy and cozy, I have been reading so much about these Lands End Sheets online so I finally took the plunge and purchased a set and honestly they live up to every single hype. They are 400 thread count, so soft, and do not wrinkle.

Highly, highly recommend – and they are on sale now. The King set is normally around $250 – they are on sale for $175.

Amazon Earrings – My jewelry collection is full of single earrings because I am constantly losing them – not both, just the one. I am not allowed to own nice earrings anymore so I have switched over to Amazon and as it turns out, they’re all super cute and look like the real thing. And at $20 and under, I won’t have to agonize for days about where I might have lost it because inevitably I will…(unlike my Mackage Coat which I am still sad about).

CHANEL – I don’t know about you but I am feeling this Chanel 22…obsessed with this little bag.

I am sure you’ve seen the hilarious Southern Instagramer Landon Talks – but he now has a collection of cheeky t-shirts and sweatshirts with Lingua Franca. Like his instagram account, he uses all the classic Southern sayings like “all y’all”, “might could” (my personal favorite), and bless your heart.

The Otium Shop – My friend makes these beautiful hand poured products for the home. They come in all shapes and sizes and colors – hearts (favorite), shells, flowers, and more. The trays are also incredibly chic and would make a great gift for all the fashionable women in your life – including yourself!

I love them so much that I gave the heart dish to all my friends as a party favor.

Shop the entire collection HERE or on her Instagram Shop.

HOMECOURT – Did you know that Courteney Cox has a collection of fragrance products for the home? She has five different scents (the “Balsam Fireplace” sounds nice for winter) in several different products including candles, soap, creams, and something called “Room Deodorant” that sounds intriguing. Apparently she is a self proclaimed neat freak, which I find amusing given her character on Friends. Also I think the name is so clever.

Birmingham friends, you can find them at Amano in Lane Parke (on my Best of Birmingham Guide) or online here.

Cozy Jackets for Running Around Town – Sweaty Betty Fleece Zip Up and Hitch Hike Jacket

Sweaty Betty Fleece Zip Up – $120 (on sale!)

Lucite Card Box Set – My people love playing cards anytime, anywhere. This would make such a great gift for a family to have in their den or to take as a housewarming present. It comes in three different colors – gold, multicolor, and silver.

Silk Hair Turban – This is little Joan Crawford-y but my friend swears by this as a way to protect your blow out for longer. Perfect stocking stuffer or gift to bring to a friend’s house as a favor.

Carry On Bag – I am always looking for a good carry on bag and love this new one from Loeffler Randall. Under $200 – fits perfectly on top of your suitcase and underneath the seat in front of you and can also double as a beach bag when you get to your vacation destination.

Reminder I have the best Christmas playlist around on Spotify: Trip Vignette Holiday Playlist
