Everything!
I have never been one who answers the question, “What do you want for Christmas?” with “Nothing, I don’t need anything” or “Just surprise me”.
It’s more, “thanks for asking, here’s the list I’ve been building and refining for the last 364 days”.
Here’s hoping I see a few of these under my tree this year.
MERRY, MERRY to you and yours.
SHEARLING SLIPPERS – I am seeing these everywhere from Net-A-Porter to J. Crew. Think I have to have a pair.
HERMES BRACELET – My mom and I each got one of these on our recent trip to Paris. Would love another one to stack.
A TRIP TO THE GASPARILLA INN – This hotel is Number 1 on my wish list for places to visit in 2022. From the website, “The Gasparilla Inn & Club is a classic “old Florida” resort located on Gasparilla Island on the Gulf of Mexico. An Historic Hotel of America Landmark Inn serving discerning guests since 1913, the resort offers 142 luxurious accommodations and a host of fun and appealing activities for families, couples, and groups that enjoy “Florida as it was meant to be.”
TASTE: MY LIFE THROUGH FOOD, by Stanley Tucci. I have written about Stanley Tucci’s excellent show before; he has now released a book about his life and passion for food, mainly from his Italian heritage. I listened to an excellent interview of him on a recent episode of the PBS Fresh Air podcast and I can’t wait to read the book. Plus, Season Two of “Searching for Italy” is scheduled to be released on CNN in early 2022.
PAPIER RECIPE JOURNAL – And speaking of food/recipes, I am constantly pulling out recipes from magazines or taking Instagram screenshots of recipes (mostly from @themodernproper) but rarely end up using them because I stick them in different places and then cannot ever find them. I would love one of these recipe journals to store them in. By the way, Papier, based in the UK, has the best stuff – notebooks, stationary, planners, etc.
CHRISTOPHER SPITZMILLER MARBLE WINE COOLER – I really have a thing for marble lately. I’m in love with these beautiful wine coolers that come in a variety of colors from the talented Christopher Spitzmiller. He also has a great book that he released this year called A Year at Clove Brook Farm: Gardening, Tending Flocks, Keeping Bees, Collecting Antiques, and Entertaining Friends, which I would love to own.
DIP DYE MARBLE MERCURY CANDLES – Continuing with the marble theme, check out these mercury candles…they would look so pretty on a dinner table.
BON VOY GETAWAY TOILETRY BAGS – Discovered these cools makeup bags on SHEN Beauty Store and would love to have a set. Description from the website: “Gone are the days when you had to carry your shampoo and other bulky toiletries in a plastic bag. This is the one place where everything fits. Removable, machine-washable inner lining you can easily pull out for cleaning purposes.”
AMAZON STOCKING STUFFERS: Small Makeup Bags in 5 different colors for only $6.99, a Korean Exfoliating Bath Towel for $3.35 – according to this Town & Country article, these towels are supposed to be the “key to the smoothest skin” ever, and the most delicious smelling Glossier Body Oil Wash.
BELFAST – I haven’t been to a movie theatre since the start of the pandemic, but this film might get me there. The reviews have been incredible and Caitriona Balfe from Outlander is one of my favorite actresses. There’s nothing more fun to me than going to a great movie with family over the holidays.
