Introducing The Wish List: Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como + The Italian Cocktail of Your Dreams

GRAND HOTEL TREMEZZO

As much as I would like to be a full time traveler, the reality is that I only have the budget and PTO days for a few big trips a year if I’m lucky. But that doesn’t mean that I am not always planning and dreaming and looking for inspiration to add to my list of places to visit, and in fact that is the very reason I started writing this newsletter in the first place.

Like most people, the restrictions on travel that were put in place due to the pandemic made me realize that one of the best things in life is the anticipation and excitement that goes along with planning a trip – big or small. When that was taken away for a time and there was no end in sight, I thought it would be fun (and therapeutic) to have a place to organize my thoughts and create a diary of sorts and thus, Trip Vignette was born. Creating these stories allows me to share and remember where I have been, what I loved and what I didn’t but also to feature places that I dream about traveling to one day.

In other words, a wish list.

So I’m starting with a place I have longed to go since forever, Lake Como and the GRAND HOTEL TREMEZZO. Who hasn’t seen the image of this unbelievably glamorous pool perched alongside beautiful Lake Como? And all those images of George Clooney living his best Italian life?

I hope you will enjoy my Saturday morning vignette on what is possibly a dreary rainy or cold weekend where you are.

Thank you for following along and just a friendly reminder that there are so many other escapes featured on my website. If you are enjoying it, I hope you will follow me on Instagram HERE and encourage your friends and fellow travel lovers to subscribe for my newsletter HERE.

Happy Weekend!

“The Grand Hotel Tremezzo is an iconic art nouveau masterpiece sitting on the western shores of Lake Como. It opened already in 1910 and was modelled after the great hotels in Europe during the period. Unlike Villa d’Este, which was once a lavish residence, Grand Hotel Tremezzo was purpose-built as a hotel from the start. “

First night in Rome and the first of many Aperol Spritz on our journey through TUSCANY and Ischia last summer. I don’t typically venture out on cocktails, especially if they are sweet (I am a dirty martini loyalist), but I love an aperol spritz in the summer. It hits the spot.
Dal Bolognese – a fabulous restaurant in Rome.
Make a batch of Aperol Spritz for your friends and serve them with chunks of parmesan cheese like this – delizioso!
