If Alice In Wonderland Designed a Hotel + Tennis & Football Fever in London

The Knightsbridge
Knightsbridge neighborhood in London, a shopper’s paradise

Between the Wimbledon Championships, the historic advance of the England football team to the UEFA EURO 2020 final, and covid restrictions finally being lifted by mid-July, England is really having a moment right now.

I wish I could be there to join all the celebrations and excitement, and if I was I would definitely want to stay at a Firmdale property, a collection of charming and whimsical hotels in London and New York that look like they could have been designed by Alice in Wonderland herself.

I went on a mother daughter trip to London a few years ago and one of of the highlights was the charming boutique townhouse hotel we stayed in called The Knightsbridge, part of the Firmdale chain.

Each room at the Knightsbridge (and all of their properties) is uniquely and creatively decorated.  The small lobby is a drawing room with an “honor bar” – perfect for our mother-daughter foursome who loved enjoying a glass of wine at the end of the day in a cozy space to catch up on our adventures before we went out for dinner.

I have not stayed at one of their New York properties but have had brunch several times at The Whitby Hotel in New York.  The lobby and restaurant have the same element of fun that that we experienced at the Knightsbridge.  Kit Kemp, Creative Director and Co-Owner of Firmdale Hotels, has a distinctive & happy approach to décor that makes for a great hotel experience.

In London, your choices are The Ham Yard Hotel, The Soho Hotel, The Charlotte Street Hotel, Covent Garden, and the Haymarket Hotel.

You can also choose from townhouse hotels, like the Knightsbridge, Number Sixteen and Dorset Square.

In New York, Crosby Street Hotel or The Whitby Hotel.  Also check out their Barbados property, Rossferry.
