DC Diary: The Little Shop Around the Corner

Manse is a warm and inviting shop with pretty and practical finds for the home and garden.

There is nothing I love more than a perfect little shop. There are so many great ones where I live in Birmingham (see here and here for two of my favorites and the complete list here) and I love to seek them out on my travels. On a recent trip to Washington, DC., I had the chance to visit Manse, an absolutely beautiful shop on the corner of “O” Street in Georgetown. Located in a relatively small, narrow space, Manse is packed full of every home goods item imaginable: books, vases, baskets, glassware, art, topiaries, candles, silver, dishes, housewares, frames, tabletop and more. Not only are the products amazing but it’s the way it makes you feel when you walk inside that is so special. The exterior is painted a pretty warm green that stands out on the cobblestone street and you’re welcomed into a Cotswolds-like experience when you walk in the front door.

A great way to spend a Saturday in Georgetown would be lunch at Martin’s Tavern, followed by shopping at Manse and the new Tuckernuck Flagship Store. Happy Weekend!

A lot has changed in Georgetown over the years but thankfully Martin’s Tavern remains the same – “A Georgetown Tradition Since 1933”.
Asparagus, carrot and heirloom tomato candles. Honestly you just need to plan a party around these candles.
Precious niece not included.
