Paradise in Jamaica: Round Hill Hotel & Villas

If I was told I could only go to one beach resort for the rest of my life, there’s no question: it would be here.

There are so many things to love about Round Hill Hotel & Villas in Montego Bay, Jamaica:

  • It is partly managed by a group of shareholders that own homes either on or around the resort so many of its patrons have a personal connection to the property.
  • One particular shareholder, Ralph Lauren, designed the hotel and his sophisticated and elegant perspective is imprinted in the bar and other areas throughout.  The style of the resort is a perfect combination of a well-maintained property and one that respects the history and charm of the original designs.
  • The setting is breathtaking.  The taxi ride once you pass through the gates of Round Hill down to the lobby is one of the most mood-altering drives you will ever experience.  You can feel the stress evaporate as you drive down the hill. (It also helps that they hand you a glass of rum punch while you’re checking in)
  • One of the best features of this property is that the hotel, beach, pool, kids club, and restaurants are all centrally located — ideal for families traveling with young kids.

This is a place where you go to read multiple books, take afternoon naps, indulge in tropical drinks, exercise, sleep late, go for long swims, dance to reggae music and make memories with your friends and family.

I’ve vacationed here with every combination of traveler: spouse, children, friends, grandparents.  It works for all of them.

Some highlights for your trip:

  • Make sure your stay includes a Friday night “Jamaica Night” performance and dinner buffet (Note: long pants are required for men at dinner; no shorts allowed.)
  • Check out the beautiful gym and spa – the pathway from the Round Hill property to the gym and spa location is worth the visit alone
  • Sign the 10 and under crowd up for the Kids club and water sports
  • Attend afternoon tea each day at 2 PM (complementary) – an array of treats both savory and sweet (Don’t miss the scones, homemade guava jam, Jammie Dodgers, and the pimiento cheese sandwiches)
