I would put my adopted hometown of Birmingham, Alabama up against any town for its selection of shops and restaurants. And given its size (small), it is easy to pop around and visit many more places than you could in larger size towns with traffic and parking challenges.
One latest example of all that Birmingham has to offer is a brand new shop called ClementÃn by the talented interior designer Stephanie Lynton. I had the chance to visit last weekend (open by appointment only) and was blown away at all the gorgeous furniture, dishes, tabletop, books, and home decor items. The mix of green (maiden hair ferns, cabbage plates) and orange (citrus trees, adorable clemintÃn branded measuring tapes) is lovely. The cabbage plate display alone is worth a visit!
ClementÃn Shop is in an area called Pepper Place, named for the former Dr. Pepper syrup and bottling facility that was located here in the 1920s and is now home to a wonderful collection of shops, restaurants and a great weekend farmer’s market.
Here are a few pictures from my visit. And hopefully you are coming to visit Birmingham for the upcoming Antiques at the Gardens on October 3-6 at the BIrmingham Botanical Gardens. Bunny Williams, Gil Schafer, Quintessence founder Stacy Bewkes, Mary McDonald, Alexa Hampton and many more will be in town – and so should you!

Have a great long weekend! -MP
